A Non Traditional Pagan Temple of Guidance

Also posted on my blog at http://aeshe.blogspot.com/

Ok I think that I am doomed to ever have all my plans for Sabbaths fall through, if I make them. Well this Sabbath I must say was hella interesting. It all really started on Friday the 20th, the day that my boyfriend, who is a Marine and stationed in Southern California, was due to fly in. Well if you live in Washington, then you are well aware of the turn the weather took shortly after three on Friday. When it rains it pours and that counts when it snows too. Fortunately my boyfriends flight to SeaTac made it safely, however shortly after that all flights in and out of SeaTac where cancelled, which included the fight that would take my boyfriend all the way home. So now here I am, all ready to celebrate Yule, freaking out about my boyfriend not being able to get home. I end up spending the night at my boyfriend’s family’s house, because we were going to drive over to Seattle in the morning, if the passes where open and if he couldn’t get another flight.

So the day of Yule dawn still continuing with blizzard conditions, that made even getting out of his parents drive way a almost impossible task, and by the time we got half an hour down the road towards Seattle, we found out that the pass that would be the fastest rout there was closed. So we turned back, his parents not wanting to make the longer trip in his sister’s Blazer. So my dad and I set out in our trusty Mini Van, over the much longer White Pass rout, that was still open and full of skiers. So we set of at about 11 that morning. We made it to SeaTac in one piece, after a close miss (a stupid state patrol car was parked IN the left hand lane to go check out a accident in the RIGHT hand lane, and we almost hit the car cause we were trying to avoid the accident on the right…but anyways). Find my stranded Marine, and drive back. The whole trip lasting 11 hours, so what plans I had for Yule where quickly abandoned. And for the first day of winter I must say Mother Nature really went all out this year.

My boyfriend and I celebrated Yule on Monday the 22nd, with a short circle, the first one that we have ever done together. I spent most of it explaining the Sabbaths and the myth of the Holly and the Oak king and talk about the triple goddess and god. He’s been interested in paganism but I am not sure if it is more than a passing interest due to my involvement, but whatever his interest is I am willing to teach him. We did a power drawing exercise that he enjoyed, and burnt a “Yule Log” with wishes and had some apple cider. And that was basically it. Nice and Simple.

So hopefully by the middle of Jan, I will be done with all this senior year of high school shit and will be able to focus more on my religious studies, because I have really been neglecting those lately. I have also decided that I really want to write out my book of shadows. So I am looking for some nice bound leather journals.

Etsy.com is an amazing place to find things like journals

Maybe I will just make my own, I don’t know yet
